Harrier celebrates 10th birthday
February 23, 2017: Talent management business Harrier Human Capital (Harrier) celebrates its tenth birthday this week. To mark the occasion Harrier’s national team contributed to a time capsule for 2027 and Harrier made a donation to charity partner St Vinnies on behalf of each employee.
Established in February 2007, following a management buyout of executive search firm Gerard Daniels, Harrier started trading as Harrier Resourcing People, a Perth-based business that followed a traditional recruitment agency model. The business established a strong relationship with international oil and gas giant Chevron, proving a formative step in, broadening its service offering to include recruitment process outsourcing (RPO).
Harrier successfully managed Chevron’s recruitment for eight years, the longest running RPO contract of its kind in Australia helping the US native to navigating significant skills shortages during the WA resources boom. 2012, the appointment of Kelly Quirk to CEO marked another significant step in Harrier’s journey. Kelly brought extensive experience of running large scale RPO and MSP accounts for international businesses such as Hays, Randstad and Robert Walters, and led a transformation that included rebranding the company as Harrier Human Capital and a process of diversification in industry and geography sectors.
Harrier Human Capital’s new strategy resulted in the award of another major RPO contract just one year later: major Australian retailer, Coles Group. The partnership with Coles is ongoing and has been extremely successful, delivering millions of dollars in savings and driving process transformation, innovation and direct sourcing.
Harrier continues to work with some of Australia’s best known brands as well as delivering strategic HR consulting and boutique RPOs to smaller businesses and state government departments. 2016 saw the acquisition of the majority shareholding of executive search and selection company Oceans Group, cementing Harrier’s growth from RPO provider to total talent management business.
Commenting on Harrier’s transformation Kelly said, "The last few years have been an incredibly busy and fruitful time for Harrier, so there was no doubt in my mind that we should take this opportunity to celebrate our tenth birthday, treat our amazing team to some fun activities and reflect on our progress.
The market in which Harrier operates has changed substantially in the last ten years, and the Australian talent landscape continues to evolve and diversify. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to Harrier’s success and I look forward to leading the team through the years to come."
